Today’s post is to show the process to the art book I am putting together called My Emo Vortex All the drawings in this series are from a hardcover sketch book I carried around for a month and some change documenting my thoughts, observations and emotions. All I used to draw with was a ball point pen. It is a cheap and versatile tool I could afford to lose during my constant traveling. Once the book was complete I photo copied and expanded the image. Then with my light table I redrew the image in pencil and cleaned it up with ink. A long time ago I came across a old box of repro film. It’s a transparent film graphic designers use in the old days to create half tones and background patterns. I decided to include those patterns for many of the pages I am redrawing. When all this is through I send the image to my favorite colorists Allen Passalaqua and Norman Wong to conjure some eye magic. I’m so honored to be working with these guys.
Here is the process visually:
The colors to this image was done by Norman Wong.
