This month’s bootleg mascot was the Koolaid Man
Some of the artists at the event
This Month’s Scramble Jam event was really good! Talked with other artists about ideas and got a different perspective on the art game. SKA Brewing company caught wind of the coaster doodles and offered a little love for the next meet up. The meeting was held at Dutch’s Brewhouse . Very happy with how chill things are. I feel as these events continue we will have to expand numbers. I do little promoting. Mostly invite friends. I think now maybe it we should promote a little more.
Also drew on a blank cover. I’m doing less of these as other projects grow and are more demanding. I still think it’s important to have fun with fan art. I do my best on confining it to these covers. Slowly working them down.
I’ll leave with some random current sketchbook draws. Thanks for reading.
Dallas’s concerned businessman.
Happy to have Dallas stop by and draw up some free form doodles! His work tells stories. I dig it!
Dane’s Phantom woman
Dave’s saggy growler
Dave’s fear of falling
Gus Spencer’s Cloak
Gus‘s contribution to the jam.
Juan’s Angel Heart
Juan came through and supported the jam also.
Konnie’s locked heart
I always dig Konnie’s illustrations and compositions.
Roscoe’s death chop
Roscoe’s flying head
Rosco killed it last night! Really impressed with his use of the graphic printed.
Sarah’s Deer with a beer.
Sarah happend to drop in on the Jam and drew up a deer!
Had a great night at the Scramble Jam last night. Here is some progress the illustrators contributed to the jam. Couldn’t have chose a better venue. Drinks were really good and the pizza was amazing! I hope enjoy the contributions!
Chris Waterman’s Cool guy
Skull and flies
Chris Waterman’s Ski Space Girl
Had some left over cards from last month’s Scramble Jam Long Beach meeting. Met some of the gang at the Creepy Romance Release party this past Saturday. Chris Waterman did a couple inebriated sketches on some blanks as well as myself. Wondered into a coffee shop and did a few more today. Here’s the progress. We have planned a post Valentines’s day Meet up Wednesday Feb 15th at Dutch’s Brewhouse. The same place as last month. Made special Bootleg cards for it in celebration. If you are reading this, and are local, and are interested you are welcome to this public event. It’s just a meet up draw session, no fees or costs. I’m sure the venue would like you to purchase pizza and beers, but the choice is optional.
I will report progress by the end of the week.
This old soul will always be faithful to my heart. Even when my heart is empty.
Here is an illustration I contributed to Cosondra Sjostrom‘s poem book titled Creepy Romance. This illustration along with 49 other talented artists are in the recent installment of the series, book four. Not kidding on the talent. Some of the work in this book makes me feel intimidated. In a good way of course.
Creepy Romance IV
The recent book, along with the past two installments are on sale now via web (here). I’ll attending the book release event this Saturday in Los Angeles at Lock & Key The book will be on sale there as well.
Keeping the February spirit I’ve been working on a little comic in the vein on my Arch Agency series. I wanted to do some kind of love story my way. I plan to post up five pages here on V-Day.
Planning to make a few copies and hand them out to friends at this months Scramble Jam in Long Beach. It’s a day after on the 15th at Dutch’s Brewhouse. I’ll have a few there for the room as well.
Our sketch card will be a little more violent…
Scramble Jam blank cards
Thanks for reading as always.
I used to have much sharper teeth.
I feel as though I’m getting soft. The weather, the times, my perspectives. There is no compromising the plan. The path is ever changing and I will adapt, but the plan, idea and drive…no.
My short term objective…toughen the hell up!
This weekend I’ll be meeting some friends at Sacramento Comic Convention (Sac-Con).
I’ll be set up to show off some new projects as well as showing the progress to the ongoing things.
I’m lugging out my collection of completed blank comic cover drawings. I think I have about 120 right now. Here are a few…
Wakko on a Mickey Mouse blank cover.
Rator from Cobra on GI Joe blank cover
A Batman and a Joker
Evil Ernie on a blank cover
Mad Max and a Villain in the comic
Spider Man and Sabertooth
Spider Gwen and Lizard
I have a lot more things to show. I’m going to do my best to post them throughout the week. A few things too different to mash up on one post, so keep watch!
