Wednesday morning. Three days left of 2016. I gotta be honest. I don’t care. Makes no difference what the calender says. The hustle is strong. A little unfocused and not quite ready to pull the print trigger, load the snake oil on to the caravan just yet, but the work is close to share.
A few things I was able to do work for recently was some roleplay character art for Mythopoeia Games Publications Convention Adventure titled Mad Cow
I didn’t do the cover art, just some illustrations inside.
It’s only a buck to check out (link here) The creator Mike has been cool guys that’s been real supportive.
Started working with the company earlier this year doing illustrations for the second source book for Realms of Fantasy II
You can get the game and books at DriveThruRPG (of course a small plug).
Also turned in work for Creepy Romance volume four. Available sometime January 2017 (I think). Self published by Cosondra Sjostrom. A poetry/art book collaboration between 50 artists including myself. Some of the art already shown looks so fucking cool! Looking forward to checking it out.
Last and most current contribution is a book my buddy Nathaniel over Eyedraugh is putting using Augmented imagery. An interactive type deal that’s going to blow your wigs off. It will be available early February.
Oh and the drawing above is colored by Shuiez Hermenz Dude knows how to recreate 1980’s flats like no other! The drawing was incidentally done on the first pages of an original copy The Dungeon Masters Guide book by Gary Gygax. Doing my best to keep it golden.
Thanks for reading to the bottom.
This illustration is a portrait of the late Marshall McLuhan. A media theorist and public speaker on various social medias during the late 60’s into the mid 7o’s predicting the internet 30 years prior to it’s public availability. A technology that tends to consumes many of us today.
This particular portrait composition -was originally drawn by Tom Wolfe in his, funny as hell satire book titled In Our Time.
This drawing is 13×19 inches inked with quill on Circa Linen, Lamplighter Ivory in color. typed on the bottom in the year 1983.
Original drawing is currently available for purchase at the Zar Star Store.
In the evening hours when most people prefer to sleep I draw. A ritual, perhaps even a compulsion. I do my best to create a topic before my imagination gets ahead of me. I often fail. These are some of the many illustrations that have no focused direction for an audience. These have become an encrypted diary. When I look back at past illustrations, I remember how I felt or what I was thinking about (irrelevant to the actual illustration) while working on a specific section. Like an old letter, but substituting the alphabet with line intersections. To be honest, I hate looking back at old drawings. It’s like looking into a mirror (which I dislike also). These are reflections of what I once was, even a second is “once was” ago. I have changed, evolved since the time it took to look. The time it takes to interpret and decipher the image I am looking at it has already changed. Never an accurate depiction. The speed of thought is far more quick than the speed of sight.
Or maybe I just think to fucking much.
Yeah, that more likely.
Women’s Institute Of Domestic Arts & Sciences (WIODAS) sheet drawing. My homage to 1927’s fashion design and illustration!
This is Miss Rowley on an audition in a less than sanitary casting office. Her attire is an authentic 1920’s design taken from a WIODAS publication advert 1927. I hope she gets the part!
I’ve always been fascinated with 1920’s illustration. Everything is elongated and presumably elegant. Not to mention the crow quill was used often.
Welcome to prime time!
I think it’s time to start listing some original art so… This drawing was made when I was watching Nightmare On Elm Street III: The Dream Warrior from the comfort of my drawing desk. I froze the frame and drew. It’s 9X12 inch and for sale at my webstore (Click)
Beautiful Women read MAD
Last original drawing of the week is MAD #538 (April 2016) Blank variant cover.
This is a blank variant cover MAD Magazine released. I tore my hair out looking for the right Alfred E. Newman look and then lighting struck! The BAS! I really love drawing this. Basil Wolverton is one of my many favorites!
If you’re curious as to the owning of this original here is the sale link (Click)
I plan to post original stuff once a week removing the previous week’s original’s if not sold.
Thanks for reading guys! I hope the day is good!
Max from Half Past Two asked me a couple of weeks ago if I’d help work the band’s merchandise table at a House Of Blues show in Anaheim. I says sure.
It gives me a reason to lurch out the art cave and be in a public setting without feeling socially awkward (mostly). I always feel awkward in social setting because I have a tendency to analyze people immediately classifying, separating myself from the experience. Stupid brain doesn’t want any friends.
With that rant aside, If you’re there, and can deal with my unspoken judgments I’ll be drawing all night giving them shits away to anyone who wants them.
Maybe even some that don’t.
Oh yeah, here are the other bands playing:
Star Pool, Stupid Flanders, Eve Of Destruction, Bredren
P.s. The artwork shown is of my own doing (unofficial). Did it just to do it.
I miss you moonlight
Have a good fuckin night.
