This illustration is a portrait of the late Marshall McLuhan. A media theorist and public speaker on various social medias during the late 60’s into the mid 7o’s predicting the internet 30 years prior to it’s public availability. A technology that tends to consumes many of us today.
This particular portrait composition -was originally drawn by Tom Wolfe in his, funny as hell satire book titled In Our Time.
This drawing is 13×19 inches inked with quill on Circa Linen, Lamplighter Ivory in color. typed on the bottom in the year 1983.
Original drawing is currently available for purchase at the Zar Star Store.
I scored a few of these oversized 13×19″ mid 1980’s paper samples from a friend of mine. The larger format allows me to practice my brush work. The pages I got are all random types of textures and colors. This one is from the “Select” series. Sunset mauve is the color from Levenger/Circa paper company (because I like the specifics). Used white acrylic paint for the highlights which actually works a lot better than the whiteout I used previously.
This drawing is titled “Harpie”
