Been hard at work lately opening sale avenues. Who cares right? Well, this is both an advert and shared experience for those who wish to sell their own work.
With that said let’s begin:
I’m pretty well versed with eBay.so I began there. Title listing is key FYI. The channel for buyers is massive, so sales begin immediately. I’m kind of pinched with only being able to sell 10 items a month because I’m a new seller. I was still able to make it work starting with 2 price points. 99 cent starting auctions. Illustrations like sketch cards and loose fan art drawings. Things laying around I am will to sacrifice to the promotion gods.
Then medium price points 9.99-14.99 Art I’m willing to let go cheap, but not give away. I understand this can be difficult for some artists who believe their work has a higher value. Keep in mind eBay is an auction site. The truth can hurt, but it’s important I move forward accept shortcomings, improve and grow.
I was recently allowed to post 10 more items, so I’m moving into the 19.99-39.99 price point. These will not fly off the shelves. It is important to show and note the work I believe to be a higher tier. Whether sales become of it or not, I am creating a standard. Listing fees are waived. I just pay the final value fee when/if the items sells.
Here are some the current things up:
The sales channel I opened was Etsy. Even though it shows I’ve been there for a year I’ve never really tried to use the site till now.
Listing fees are a flat 20 cents each which isn’t bad at all. After uploading and observing the site I noticed it seems to be more of a social network than something like eBay where you post and shop.
This takes a little more getting used to in terms of getting interest. It seems to be more interactive which may be difficult for me to find time for. I’ll make time each week to “favorite, Follow” and make small purchases on item I like. Well, see what becomes of it. My expectations are low, but it is affordable financially. Time may be my downside to this venture.
Since my expectations are low I put some of my medium priced work to use this channel as more of a showcase for the couple hundred sketch cover I’ve made and a couple of comics I’ve done.
Here are a few:
Last but not least is a this Alien drawing I made. Turned it into a trading card and randomly handed them out at the Cinedome in Hollywood California during the premiere of Alien Covenant
As always, Thanks for reading this far.
